Millard Lumber Inc. Earns FSC Certification and a Leader in the Green Building Initiative
Posted on Tuesday January 8, 2008
Millard Lumber has been approved as a registered provider of Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) approved lumber products, leading the way in the green building initiative. In terms of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building program, Millard Lumber becomes the link between a qualified FSC production mill and the end user who is seeking to build in compliance with recognized LEED guidelines. This role is referred to as a chain of custody provider. Millard Lumber can supply the products and the proper documentation that will contribute to a project qualifying as a LEED certified building. Examples of such products include floor panels, wall panels and trusses – components that help control construction waste and cycle times.
It is becoming more evident that society’s members need to build and live in a less wasteful and more efficient manner. Fortunately, there are a number of green building programs emerging throughout the country. LEED is the largest national green building certification program; locally, Nebraska’s Green Built Homes Program is conducted by the State of Nebraska Energy Office, the Nebraska State Homebuilders Association, and the Nebraska Green Building Council.
Millard Lumber is proud to be the pioneer in its trade area with the vision and capacity to provide this level of service and support to the LEED building initiative. For more information on Millard Lumber or their FSC Certification, call Cheri Perdue at 402.896.2827.
